Master of Science in Athletic Training Admissions
Completed applications for the Master of Science in Athletic Training program are reviewed holistically on a multitude of factors including but not limited to: academic history, letters of recommendation and previous clinical experience.
ATCAS Application Deadlines
- Application opens: June 30, 2023
- Priority application deadline: Jan. 16, 2024
- Application closes: June 13, 2024
Application Requirements
- ATCAS Application – Applicants must complete their application through the Athletic Training Centralized Application System.
- Academic Excellence - Minimum 2.75 Cumulative GPA and 2.75 Prerequisite GPA are required. Must earn a C or higher in prerequisite courses.
- Required Supplemental Items – Letter of intent and resume must be submitted with ATCAS application.
- Strong References - Two letters of recommendation are required. Applicants are highly encouraged to submit at least one letter of recommendation from a certified Athletic Trainer.
- Observation Hours – Must complete at least 50 observation hours under a certified Athletic Trainer.

Admitted Students must complete the following:
- Satisfactory results of a criminal background screening.
- Completion of Health and Immunization Packet (includes health history form, immunizations form, and physical examination completed by a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant).
- Professional resume outlining any previous experiences with athletic training or other healthcare fields (e.g. professional organizations, clinical/internship experiences, work-study, employment).
* Note: Applicants that hold an athletic training license in the State of Texas will not be allowed to count practice hours toward clinical expectations and will be held to the same practice standards as all other entry-level students. - Admitted students must pay a $250 seat deposit, paid to the business office at UIW upon acceptance to the program.
