Mission and Ministry Liaison

Josh Welker is a native of St. Louis Missouri. There he received his B.F.A in sculpture (2000) from Webster University and his Master of Arts in Theological Studies (2003) at Covenant Seminary. Josh and his wife, Michelle, moved to Austin where Michelle received her B.A. in English and Josh received his M.F.A., both from U.T. Austin (2009). For the past seven years Josh served as head of sculpture and ceramics in the capacity of Assistant Professor of Art at Taylor University in Upland Indiana. He earned tenure there in 2016. Josh and Michelle moved to San Antonio in August 2017 along with their boys, Fred (10), Charlie (7), and Eden (5), for a change of weather, pace and cultural diversity. Josh is very pleased to be serving as part time Mission Officer at U.I.W’s School of Physical Therapy and working as an artist the rest of the time. Josh has won various awards and has had several shows of his artwork. Josh enjoys cultural engagement, skateboarding, hiking, swimming, conversing and exploring with his family. He practices yoga, running, mindfulness, and cycling on his own time.
