Erika Salazar Alaniz graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2011, with a Bachelor of Kinesiology in Exercise Science. She pursued a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of the Incarnate Word and graduated as part of the inaugural class in 2015. Since earning her clinical doctorate, she practiced in an outpatient setting for three years, serving as the primary provider for individuals with neurologic diagnoses in addition to treating patients with orthopedic involvement. She also worked for Warm Springs Inpatient Rehab for two years and practiced in the home health setting for two and a half years. She has evaluated and treated patients across the lifespan with various diagnoses. Her areas of interest include treating patients with neuromuscular involvement, providing vestibular rehabilitation and teaching. She is certified in trigger point dry needling (level 1) and earned her Neurologic Clinical Specialist certification in March 2022. She has assisted with facilitating a vestibular rehabilitation continuing education course with the TPTA and is also a certified clinical instructor.

She values her faith, family and quality time with her husband and daughter. She enjoys exercising, traveling and reading. She and her husband own a small family business.
