Monica C. Mendez has been a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Physical Therapy since 2021.Born and raised in San Antonio, Monica obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sports Science from St. Mary's University.Monica then worked as a lifestyle advocate at a social and health research center focused on narrowing social gaps in accessing preventative health information.In 2017, Monica became a UIW alumni and received a Doctor of Physical Therapy.As a cardinal, Monica's passion grew for serving the underserved and narrowing healthcare disparities.After graduation, Monica worked in rural health providing quality care to a region limited to healthcare access.

Monica is active member in Los Quijotes of San Antonio Health Ambassadors, a non-profit organization that provides free healthcare for indigenous populations in Oaxaca, Mexico.The organization focuses in collaborating with local healthcare providers to teach current evidence-based practices while serving those with the greatest needs.

Monica's professional and personal goals are centered on spreading the healing ministry of Jesus Christ and ensuring human dignity in healthcare for ALL. When not working, Monica enjoys taking her Labrador outdoors and trying new local restaurants.
